Reports to: ESG Director

We are seeking a practical, hands-on ESG Officer to lead the implementation of our Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) and Livelihood Restoration Plan (LRP) on a large-scale agricultural project in northern Namibia. This is a field-based role, focused on turning plans into real, visible action — especially Project Affected People and the surrounding communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate the RAP and LRP into day-to-day implementation activities and track progress.
  • Assist with setting up and coordinating the Livelihood Restoration Trust, working with legal, finance, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate delivery of livelihood inputs and training programmes, both land-based and skills-based, for resettled households and vulnerable groups.
  • Track and report on compensation, construction support, and re-establishment activities.
  • Maintain clear beneficiary records, stakeholder engagement logs, and photo evidence.
  • Support grievance resolution and ongoing engagement with project-affected people.
  • Work closely with the Community Liaison Officer, training providers, NGOs, and government partners.
  • Prepare field updates and contribute to ESG reports submitted to international funders.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience managing RAP/LRP implementation, ideally in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Track record of delivering IFC PS5-compliant resettlement or livelihood programmes.
  • Practical experience with community development funds, trusts, or similar financial vehicles.
  • Experience working with government partners, traditional authorities, and civil society.
  • Proven ability to manage training programmes, agri-livelihoods, or enterprise support.
  • Strong monitoring and evaluation (M&E) andreporting capability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cultural communication skills.
  • Relevant qualification in social sciences, development, or related fields.
  • Fluency in English; local language skillsadvantageous.

Please Note

This role is focused on the social and implementation aspects of ESG — it is not an environmental compliance position. Applicants with only environmental science or EIA backgrounds and no resettlement or livelihoods delivery experience will not be considered.
